1/23/2024 0 Comments Nvalt renaming filesIt seems to me that if you drag and drop a file into the library it should move to the library. I think it makes the UI harder to understand when it works way. Outcome: Dummy.txt no longer visible in iCloud folder “LibraryView” Outcome: Finder asks if Dummy.txt should be removed from iCloud Use TextEdit to create new document in Finder called Dummy.txt (ensuring it is on hard drive and not in iCloud) Test, document does NOT originate in iCloud: Outcome: Dummy.txt visible in iCloud folder “LibraryView” and is labelled as an ‘Alias’ Outcome: Dummy.txt no longer visible in LibraryView Outcome: Dummy.txt visible in iCloud folder “LibraryView” Outcome: Dummy.txt no longer visible in Finder folder Outcome: Dummy.txt visible in LibraryView Outcome: Dummy.txt visible in Finder folder Use TextEdit to create new document in Finder called Dummy.txt (ensuring it is on a folder held in iCloud) I’ve done two tests, which have different outcomes depending on whether my document originates purely on my hard drive, or in a folder that happens to reside in iCloud. OK, I am now wondering if this is due to Mac OS Sierra and its tendency to suck things up into iCloud. Can you try to recreate this behavior and give me the exact steps to reproduce the problem? Thanks! For me when I drag a file out of the library view and into the finder it is also removed from the library. I’m not able to reproduce this last part. That’s a nice clean solution, but maybe confusing because you’ll wonder why “show library” doesn’t work.Īnyway, I’m open to suggestions… but alas when you open a file outside of the library I can just show the containing folder as the library as would seem to make the most sense. But that seems kinda funky to me.Īnother option might be to just disable the library view (hide it and don’t allow showing it) when you open a document that’s not already in the library. I just looked at iA Writer and they solve the problem by showing an import button and explanation text in the library view when you are viewing a document that’s outside the library. (My app always has read/write access to it’s iCloud library, so that’s why I’m able to always show that). That’s why it works if you drag the owning directory to the app … then you are giving the app read/write access to that entire directory hierarchy and I can show a library for that folder. When the user opens a file the system gives my app read/write access to that file, but not to it’s owning directory. Unfortunately I can’t implement as you suggest because of Sandbox restrictions. Yeah this is a case that I haven’t quite found a solution to yet. Oh! On the off-chance that this isn’t an insanely complicated feature to add - would it be possible to, if you open a file, have the other files in its parent folder show up automatically in the library view, instead of the default iCloud folder?

Today, archaeologists find shells, bones and fragments of clay pots and stone tools as evidence of their long-ago visits. In fact, the whole property in many ways feels stuck in time: Guests can travel around by bicycle or even horse, the grounds are lit at night with flickering gas lamps, and the pace of life is wonderfully slow. For thousands of years, Indigenous people came to Palmetto Bluff to fish in the coastal waters and to hunt and gather in the forests. The crumbling columns and brick foundations of the grand Wilson Plantation House, built around 1910 and burnt to the ground in 1929, evoke the bygone days when guests arrived to Palmetto Bluff by steamship and train for lavish parties. The River House looks like a classic southern mansion, with a two-story porch, gabled roof, and off-white wood siding, and in front of it are the ruins of an actual, historic southern mansion. The River House looks like a classic southern mansion, with a two-story porch, gabled roof, and off-white wood siding, and in front of it are the ruins of an actual, historic southern mansion. After the mansion succumbed to fire in 1926, Wilson refused to rebuild it. The property, which is located in South Carolina’s low country, was first inspired by a mansion built by affluent New York banker Richard T. Shadowed by ancient oaks and winding through the May River Forest neighborhood, the 7,171 yard masterwork invites players of every skill level to face its unique set of challenges. The property includes the main River House, which offers sweeping views and plenty of cozy common spaces - a wide front porch, a library, and a small lobby numerous small white cottages dotting the landscape a chapel and ample recreation facilities (which are shared with the residents of the village). In early September, the Montage Palmetto Bluff completed its largest ever expansion. Created in 2005, the May River Golf Course is an 18-hole, Jack Nicklaus Signature design. Montage Palmetto Bluff is the gem of this development, and offers what are among the most luxurious accommodations on the entire east coast. It sits along the May River, a tributary to the Atlantic Ocean, and is blissfully tranquil: Visitors will drive along a private road (blocked off by a security gate) under a canopy of trees to reach the main square of the picturesque Palmetto Bluff Village, and the development's facilities - including the golf club, fitness club, boat house, and pools - never feel crowded. Palmetto Bluff, a 20,000-acre real estate development about 20 miles east of Hilton Head Island, and 20 miles north of Savannah, embodies some of the best of what Lowcountry has to offer. It's a place that feels at once exotic and distinctly American, a place where time seems to have stood still the Gullah inhabitants and language (a blend of Creole and English) still thrive, historic architecture has been preserved, and the magical natural beauty has remained relatively untouched. Nestled along the May River in South Carolinas Lowcountry, Montage Palmetto Bluff is set within a vibrant community between Hilton Head Island and Savannah. That's because this region along the southern part of the South Carolina coast, home to wetlands, rivers, saltwater marshes, and mossy forests, is all of those things. “Montage Palmetto Bluff embraces the rich history of this premier Lowcountry destination, inviting guests to experience the unique beauty and culture that exudes Southern charm,” said GM Marcus Jackson.People will often describe the Carolina Lowcountry with words such as mystical, ethereal, and hauntingly beautiful. of meeting and event space and numerous activities. This fall, the resort will debut the complete expansion, featuring a new inn with 74 new guest accommodations, a lobby lounge and octagon bar with lagoon views a 13,000-sq.-ft. Sometime recently, Package Control got a built-in installation option in the editor (just like I recommended in my original article!).Between the near instant launch time, fast movements in the editor, and clean keyboard shortcuts, it remains the smoothest typing experience of any of the other editors in this list Pros The autocomplete is slow, inaccurate, and many of the things such as Quick Actions don’t work very well for the language that are supported.Ĭonstantly hailed as the gold standard in terms of editors, how well does it stand up as a Node.js/JavaScript IDE? Sublime Text continues to be fast, never feeling slow. The support for languages is worse than other editors such as IntelliJ or VSCode. While having less features than similar editors, it is slower, and harder to configure. Easy to use, it’s even more of a “text editor but with extensions” than even VSCode. The new “Teletype” feature seems cool, allowing anyone to edit a file while you’re working on it.Being older than VSCode, may have certain extensions that are unique to it.As well, now that Microsoft owns GitHub (who created the Atom editor) I’m curious if there will ever be an attempt to consolidate Atom into VSCode. While Atom was very fancy when it came out, in 2021 it feels like the slower, harder to use version of Visual Studio Code. The configuration is very in-depth, but you’ll generally have to tweak several things to get stuff working.Ītom is an Electron-based editor like Visual Studio Code, however it’s actually the original Electron-based editor because it invented the Electron framework.Extension quality can highly vary due to most being created by the community.TypeScript, JavaScript, and Node.js support is top-notch and well polished.Clean editor layout, very easy to get started with initially.Extensions for anything you can imagine.Completely open source, completely free. The editor legitimately can now compete with its much older brother, Visual Studio. Over time extensions have come out for Golang, Rust, Java, and many other languages with each plugin being open sourced. Everything was written in TypeScript, it was open source, and it even launched with great integration for TypeScript. Visual Studio Code was a surprise when it came out, simply being a better version of the existing Electron-based editor Atom. I’m assuming it may be due to the fact that some features are behind the paid version of IntelliJ and the fact that Java isn’t as popular as other languages used for editor plugins (mainly JavaScript.) While the community around developing open source plugins exists, it’s a lot smaller than other editors. The launch time is still longer than most editors.Best Vim integration with an existing IDE I’ve ever seen. The Vim plugin can use normal Vim configuration files, but as far as I understand, it’s still a complete reimplementation of Vim that has had everything I’ve tried with it.Built-in features for most everything that users want.Once launched, generally feels snappy and responsive. These are high quality plugins that constantly improved with each release. Plugins for nearly every popular language, most maintained by JetBrains themselves.Even in 2015 the support for each language was top-notch and it continues to improve. Since 2015 the support for languages has grown, and each language has more autocomplete/smart features. Nowadays I use it for Golang, JavaScript, C, and generally any other language I want to start a project in. I wrote an article almost 6 years ago comparing Node.js and JavaScript IDEs, however it has become painfully out of date with editors like Brackets and Nodeclipse on it! Here’s my new list for 2021, comparing IntelliJ vs VSCode vs Atom vs Sublime Text 3! First up: JetBrains IntelliJ Ultimate / WebStormīack in 2015 IntelliJ was the best IDE for Java and a great IDE for many other language. While Salvia greggii is generally pest and disease-resistant, it can occasionally be affected by whiteflies or powdery mildew. Prune in late winter to help maintain shape, and to promote denser growth. Although it is drought-tolerant it will appreciate an occasional deep watering during prolonged dry periods. Once established, Autumn Sage requires only minimal care. When dividing, do so in early spring by separating the plant into smaller pieces, and replanting immediately. Next, remove the lower leaves, dip the end in a rooting hormone, and then plant it in a well-draining medium. When propagating from cuttings, first take a 3 to 4 inch (7.5 to 10 cm) piece from a non-flowering stem in early summer. Seeds should be started indoors about 6 to 8 weeks before the last expected frost. Propagation of Salvia greggii can be achieved through seeds, cuttings, or division. Only five of 24 companies’ net-zero pledges represent a commitment to deep decarbonisation. Only a minority of net-zero pledges represent credible commitments to deep decarbonisation, while many remain highly ambiguous. This compares to the need to cut global GHG and CO2 emissions by 43% and 48% between 20 respectively, to be in line with the goal to limit the global temperature increase to 1.5☌.įigure 2: The median commitment of emission reductions between 20. This may increase to 21% under the most optimistic scenario that emission intensity targets translate to equivalent absolute emission reductions. For the 22 companies with targets for 2030, we find that these targets translate to a median absolute emission reduction commitment of just 15% of the full value chain emissions between 20. For others, 2030 targets are misleading due to reliance on offsetting.Ĭlimate pledges for 2030 fall well short of the economy-wide emission reductions required to stay below the 1.5☌ temperature limit. Scope 3 emissions account for over 90% of the GHG emission footprints for most of the companies we have assessed. For many companies, 2030 targets address only a limited scope of emission sources, such as only direct emissions (scope 1) or emissions from procured energy (scope 2) and only selected other indirect emission categories (scope 3). Nearly all the 24 companies that we assessed have pledged 2030 targets, but we find that these targets can rarely be taken at face value. Companies’ climate pledges for 2030 fall well short of the required ambition and are inappropriately verified.Ĭompanies’ 2030 targets cannot be taken at face value. There is a critical need to shift attention to the 2030 blind spot. Companies’ climate change commitments often do not add up to what their pledges might suggest.įigure 1: Integrity of corporate net-zero pledges. We found that most of the companies’ strategies do not represent examples of good practice climate leadership. Overall, we find the climate strategies of 15 of the 24 companies to be of low or very low integrity. Scrutiny of their plans is also necessary to identify whether these companies set the right examples. The analysis of these companies should provide the best prospects for the identification of replicable good practice. These companies serve as role models for other large, medium, and small companies around the world. Through this, they have committed themselves to preparing and implementing decarbonisation plans that align with the objective to limit warming to 1.5☌. The 24 global companies that we have assessed comprise of the largest three global companies from eight major-emitting sectors, including only those that are members of an initiative affiliated with the Race to Zero campaign. The companies analysed in the 2023 Corporate Climate Responsibility Monitor have put themselves forward as climate leaders. Most companies’ climate strategies are mired by ambiguous commitments, offsetting plans that lack credibility and emission scope exclusions, but replicable good practice can be identified from a minority. The repeat analysis of this small sub-set of companies offers insights into what progress has been made over the past year. Ten of the 24 companies were also assessed in the 2022 Corporate Climate Responsibility Monitor. This is equivalent to roughly 4% of global GHG emissions in 2019. Their total self-reported GHG emission footprint in 2019, including upstream and downstream emissions (scope 3) amount to approximately 2.2 GtCO2e. The 24 companies assessed in this report are major multinational companies. It evaluates four main areas of corporate climate action: tracking and disclosure of emissions, setting emission reduction targets, reducing own emissions, and taking responsibility for unabated emissions through climate contributions or offsetting. The Corporate Climate Responsibility Monitor assesses the transparency and integrity of 24 major companies’ climate pledges and strategies. 1/22/2024 0 Comments Franz schubert ave maria lyricistHis mother was the daughter of a Silesian master locksmith and had been a housemaid for a Viennese family before marriage. He came to Vienna from Zukmantel in 1784 and was appointed schoolmaster two years later. His father, the son of a Moravian peasant, was a well-known parish schoolmaster, and his school in Lichtental (in Vienna's ninth district) had numerous students in attendance. Schubert's immediate ancestors came originally from the province of Zuckmantel in Austrian Silesia. He was the twelfth child of Franz Theodor Florian Schubert (1763–1830) and Maria Elisabeth Katharina Vietz (1756–1812). Life and career Early life and education įranz Peter Schubert was born in Himmelpfortgrund (now a part of Alsergrund), Vienna, Archduchy of Austria, on 31 January 1797, and baptized in the Catholic Church the following day. Today, Schubert is ranked among the greatest composers in the history of Western classical music and his work continues to be admired and widely performed. Felix Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann, Franz Liszt, Johannes Brahms and other 19th-century composers discovered and championed his works. He died eight months later at the age of 31, the cause officially attributed to typhoid fever, but believed by some historians to be syphilis.Īppreciation of Schubert's music while he was alive was limited to a relatively small circle of admirers in Vienna, but interest in his work increased greatly in the decades following his death. He gave a concert of his works to critical acclaim in March 1828, the only time he did so in his career. In 1821, Schubert was admitted to the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde as a performing member, which helped establish his name among the Viennese citizenry. Despite this, he continued his studies in composition with Antonio Salieri and still composed prolifically. He left the Stadtkonvikt at the end of 1813 and returned home to live with his father, where he began studying to become a schoolteacher. In 1808, at the age of eleven, he became a pupil at the Stadtkonvikt school, where he became acquainted with the orchestral music of Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Ludwig van Beethoven. His father gave him his first violin lessons and his elder brother gave him piano lessons, but Schubert soon exceeded their abilities. 14 "Death and the Maiden", a String Quintet, the two sets of Impromptus for solo piano, the three last piano sonatas, the Fantasia in F minor for piano four hands, the opera Fierrabras, the incidental music to the play Rosamunde, and the song cycles Die schöne Müllerin, Winterreise and Schwanengesang.īorn in the Himmelpfortgrund suburb of Vienna, Schubert showed uncommon gifts for music from an early age. His major works include the art songs Erlkönig, Gretchen am Spinnrade, Ave Maria the Trout Quintet, the unfinished Symphony No. Despite his short life, Schubert left behind a vast oeuvre, including more than 600 secular vocal works (mainly lieder), seven complete symphonies, sacred music, operas, incidental music, and a large body of piano and chamber music.
